The Gender & Travel Study requires participants to be at least 18 years of age and live in the state of Minnesota. Participants must have a smartphone with a data plan and be willing to download and install the Daynamica smartphone app (for free). Participants will first answer a few questions to determine eligibility and review and sign a consent form to confirm their enrollment via Qualtrics. Then, participants will complete an online enrollment survey to provide their email address and basic demographic information via Qualtrics at the University of Minnesota. The research team will send instructions on how to install and use the Daynamica app after confirming participants’ eligibility. After installing the Daynamica app, participants will be asked to collect 14 days of data using the app. This includes confirming or editing auto-detected trips and activities, entering contextual information about these calendar items, and answering a few questions at the end of each day. After finishing 14 days of data entry, participants will opt in a short exit survey to share their experiences or comments about participation.
For a day to be counted toward the 14 days, a set of requirements has to be met:
- 20+ hours of auto-detected trips and activities must be confirmed/edited
- 80% of contextual surveys linked to the trips and activities must be completed
- The end of day survey must be completed
If you choose to participate in the Gender & Travel Study and complete all the required data collection, you will receive a $40 Amazon gift card by email as a thank you for your time and efforts.
